Year 2000 In Review

What a year.  Let’s see, what did Jen and Trent do for the past 12 months?

January
We started the year in Bellingham, WA at the Royal Room with Linette, Dee, Jason, Amber, Harold and Kerie Lynn.  We then packed the Jeep, once again, and headed back East.  The coldest drive we have ever taking cross country.  We went ice fishing for Northern Pike in North Dakota with Graydon and Edie Bohn.  Trent interviewed with a company in Texas.  To finish the month off, we took a trip to Virginia for Troy’s 30th birthday.  We hit another snow storm on the way home.

February
Trent left for Texas to work for CFAN.  We made an offer on our first home, got approval for a loan and closed all in 3 weeks.  Jen had a hard good bye to Pinnacle Hospice, bowling, volunteering for the local ambulance, friends and our adopted parents, Sally and Clearance Moser, in Pennsylvania.

March
Jen packed up the Jeep, yes again, and adventured on the wild dog trip through the South (Jen insisted that I couldn’t pack the dogs in the moving truck).  Jen arrived early to Texas and slept on the cold floor with the dogs.  Linette from the Ham came out to help us move in.  Jen found out that it rains a lot in the Texas Hill Country.  She and Lin explored South Texas.  It's beautiful.  Jen went to a job fair one morning, got recruited to help and landed a civil service job, nursing at Audy Murphy VA hospital.

April
Jen starts working at the veterans hospital in San Antonio.  Spent Easter with our neighbors Tom & Sue Workman.  They're great.

May

It still rains a lot in Texas.  I don't remember any special events in May.  Just the rain.

June
We went to San Antonio to see Roger Waters in concert at the Alamo Dome and stayed in a very nice hotel over the Riverwalk.  We bought a new master bed and a frame made from Canadian Maple.  I guess they had to go cut the tree down.  The mattress and boxspring were too big to get upstairs.  We hoisted it up over the deck.  Where was the third stooge that day?  We floated the Guadalupe River with our neighbors Tom & Sue for Fathers Day.  It was Tom's birthday.  That was fun.

July
Holy Hot Tamales Batman, it gets hot in Texas.  Especially, since it stopped raining for 6 weeks.  We had just one day of rain on the 31st.

August
CFAN sent Trent to France for two weeks.  We spent our wedding anniversary apart this year.  Jen’s dad Jerry and Lupe came to Texas to visit her family.  We got to meet Uncle Reuben and Cheryl and Cousin Ben and Laura.  Trent went back to WA to join Thomas on his "bachelor climb" up Mt Rainier to Camp Muir.  This was the first time I had ever been to Mt. Rainier.  Trent returned to Texas to another 7 weeks of drought.

September
Over Labor Day Weekend, in 120 degree heat, we helped Mike and Rose move.  That wasn’t funny.  We went back to WA, yes again, for Tristie and Thomas’s wedding.  We went from the Canadian border to the Oregon border back to the San Juan Islands.  Do we ever stop?  We finally got some rain near the end of the month.
(1.75" of rain)

October
The showers started up again.  It was great for the rivers to flush their banks out.  We went to Austin to see The Tragically Hip at Stubs BBQ.  What a great show.  We cancelled our Halloween party.  Jen had to work.
(8.5" of rain)

November
The rains just kept falling.  No flooding, however.  There were several spots were the river was over the bridges.  The eastern half of Texas came pretty close.  Spent Thanksgiving with our neighbors Tom & Sue.  Trent’s parents, Bob & Dova, came to Texas on business and spent some time with us.  Jen dropped the Jeep off one day and drove home Joey.  I like it.  It's weather resistance.
(12.5" of rain)

December
Skippy came to visit from PA. Happy Birthday Skippy! Jen and Skippy took a trip down to South Padre Island and a day in the border town of Matamoros, Mexico. We got a bad ice storm one night.  It about shut the state down. Jen gave her resignation to the veterans hospital.  She is joining for a more flexible, lucrative opportunity.  Trent will be spending Christmas in Oregon with his family. Jen will be staying in Texas with friends.  No time off work for her.
